Two child care programs are offered to registered Congress 2019 attendees from June 1 to 7:
- child minding for children birth to 6 years at Osprey
- UBC Camps for children 6 to 12 years
- Congress 2019 is family friendly
Congress attendees who require child care services must register their children before the deadlines as indicated below. Drop-in child care services are not available during Congress 2019. Please note that attendees are required to remain on campus while their children are being minded.
Osprey child minding
Osprey child minding offers conference childcare for children aged 0 to 6 years old. It offers you a chance to attend Congress while having your child in a safe, welcoming environment where they will have the opportunity to explore a variety of activities and materials.
Hours
Osprey is available for child minding for the duration Congress from June 1-7, 2019 from 7:30 to 17:30. Families must select what hours and days they will attend prior to the conference as part of the registration process. Times are available on the ½ hour. For example: 7:30-8:30, 8:30-9:30 and so on. Children can attend for a maximum of eight hours per day within our available hours.
Daily routine
We want every child to feel comfortable and safe; therefore, we offer a flexible program to meet their individual needs with open snack and free play with a variety of activities throughout the day. Children can take part in exploring both indoors and outdoors. The Nest Building offers many things to see and explore. Children will have the opportunity to join in art activities, make play dough, play in our play kitchen, or explore the water table. We have many fun-filled activities based on your child’s age to fill the day.
We will offer a comfortable, cozy place for your children to rest should they need to. We provide blankets and sheets if needed, and we also welcome special blankets from home. Should your child require diapers, we ask that you bring enough diapers and wipes to supply them for the time they are in our care. A change of clothing is also highly recommended in case your child needs to change during their stay with us.
We offer light morning and afternoon snacks and a hot lunch for children signed up for full days.
Fees & registration
Rate for child minding are the following:
- $20/ hour
- $100 per day for a maximum of eight hours per day
All payments for child minding will be due prior to the conference dates. All payments are made online using our website once your child is registered.
Families requiring child minding for Congress apply for care by emailing our senior supervisor Lauren McCaughey at lauren.mccaughey@ubc.ca. Please complete your registration by April 15, 2019. We will then email families a registration package that will need to be completed and returned by April 30, 2019 to ensure that they are signed up for care for the days and times they require. Any registrations after this date are on a first-come first-served basis and may have limited hours and days. Completed registration forms require a copy of your child’s immunization record and a current photo.
