In recent years, Prof. Roger Chartier particularly addressed the issues of textual transmission through joint mediations of translation, textual mobility, and print culture. These themes were particularly explored in a series of lectures at the Collège de France (2015-2017, 2017-2018), as well as in the monograph L'Œuvre l'Atelier et la Scène. Trois études de mobilité textuelle (Paris: Classiques Garnier 2014). In this plenary, Prof. Chartier will return to the key aspects of the links between translation, writing, book circulation, and reading practices in early modern Europe.
