A new thought provoking book entitled, Holistic Healing: Theories, Practices and Social Change, https://www.canadianscholars.ca/books/holistic-healing will be discussed by the editor and some of the contributors. This book links together a wide range of progressive theories, research and practices into an exciting field of critical holistic healing based upon an alternative paradigm of healing and social change. It is intended to promote the study of holistic healing in postsecondary education along with offering innovative ideas and practices for practitioners in the field and the general public. The 30 plus contributors provide a diversity of ways of viewing holistic healing both ancient and modern including Indigenous, Eastern and Western practices. It provides an overview of the field of holistic healing in a critical, integrated manner at the individual, community, national and global levels. It outlines common and different values, orientations and features of this powerful field which deals with physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing. It offers a different paradigm and way of viewing issues and alternative solutions to our problems in a world in crisis. This paradigm encourages us to consider our interdependence as individuals, communities and nations as well as our global responsibility. The public is encouraged to attend this free event.
