This open event is hosted by

Over the course of two hours, practice-based researchers and artists affiliated with the International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation (IICSI), and with the journal Critical Studies in Improvisation/Études critiques en improvisation, will present a set of brief (ten-minute) overviews of the many projects, performances, interventions and community partnerships that IICSI research initiative has created and supported, with a particular emphasis on work at and around UBC and Vancouver. After a short break, IICSI members will lead a massive, open-air Deep Listening exercise, emerging from the work of IICSI researcher Pauline Oliveros. The program will conclude with the guided departures of attendees on improvised sound-walks across the campus.
