This symposium will provide an update of the Indigenous Language Fluency/Proficiency Degree in an effort to address how the Partnership — between the Indigenous Adult and Higher Learning Association (IAHLA) and First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC), the Consortium, the En’owkin Centre, Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT), Simon Fraser University (SFU), UBC Okanagan, UBC Vancouver, University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), UVic, and Wilp Wilxo’oskwhl Nisga’a Institute — is responding to, and creating opportunities within, public post-secondary institutions to meet the needs of B.C. First Nations communities. Discussions will include sustainable resourcing, assessment, materials development, creating language domains, and fostering language opportunities outside of the classroom.
